Work Hours Calculator

This calculator finds net work hours from a clock-in time, clock-out time, and an optional unpaid break duration. It is useful for timesheets, payroll verification, and tracking daily work hours.

How It Works

Elapsed minutes = Clock-out − Clock-in (±1440 for overnight) | Net minutes = Elapsed − Break minutes

The calculator finds total elapsed time between clock-in and clock-out, handles overnight shifts, then subtracts any unpaid break time. The result is net paid work hours and minutes.

Worked Examples

Example 1. Clock-in: 8:00 AM. Clock-out: 5:00 PM. Break: 30 minutes. Net work = 9 hr − 30 min = 8 hours 30 minutes.

Example 2. Clock-in: 11:00 PM. Clock-out: 7:00 AM. Break: 0 minutes. Net work = 8 hours 0 minutes.

When to Use This Calculator

Use for timesheet completion, verifying a pay stub's hours, or tracking daily work time against a target schedule.
